Isobel's Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 can cubed tomatoes with herbs
  • 1 minced onion
  • 2 chopped celery stalks
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 litre milk
  • 2 pinches of baking soda
     

Instructions

  • Fry onion and celery together in deep pan.
  • Add spices and tomatoes.
  • Heat until hot.
  • In a separate pan, heat milk (1 litre).
  • Add a pinch of baking soda to milk.
  • Add a pinch of baking soda to tomato mixture.
  • Stir the tomato mixture into the milk gradually.
  • Heat until hot and steaming, stirring together.

Delicious any time of the year!
