Who We Are

We want to see grades 6-8 students reach up to God, reach out to each other and reach out to the world around them. We believe our junior high students are eXtraordinary people with eXcess energy ready and eager to make an eXciting difference in the world. We want you to eXperience God’s great love for you at Village Green.

What we do

eXtra Friday Nite Live

Every Friday from 7 to 8:30 pm our junior high students get together at the church for fun-action packed games, snacks, Bible study and discussion groups that are relevant and applicable to the issues facing junior high students ... it’s here where truth gets unwrapped! FNL is also a great place to hang out with friends and develop some great relationships with other junior high students.

eXtra 1/2 Time

1/2 time is the junior high Sunday teaching time during the church service where the students are taught on the same topic covered in the morning worship service but from an age-appropriate youth perspective. The students start in the service with the rest of the congregation giving them an opportunity to worship before going to the youth room for their teaching time.

Whatever the topic, interaction with others and application is always the norm at 1/2 Time.

eXtra Events

Once or twice a month the junior high youth get together for big events – usually on Friday nights in place of Friday Nite Live. A great time to invite friends along to share the fun. These include everything from themed outreach events (like “Lost in Paradise”) to socials at various locations around the city (like the “corn maze”) to service opportunities in our community (like a “Rake and Run”). For an extra amazing time, the Junior high also attend Bedlam with about 600 other junior high students from across the province. Bedlam is the annual junior high retreat held at Muskoka Woods Sports Resort, organized by the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches.

Calendar of Events

During the months of April, May and June, during Friday Nite Live, the junior high students will be taking on some “Dares From Jesus.” These Wild Truth Bible lessons will be challenging our grade 6-8 students to live for God in every relationship they are in. Choosing forgiveness-reconciliation in their relationships, learning that revenge and retribution never pay off, dropping the worry from our lives, being wise, building relationships that honour God and a ton of other great topics our junior high students will learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a good friend.

Don’t worry though ... Friday Nite Live still has the great line up of games, snacks and fun with friends that you have gotten used to.

It’s Friday Nite Live with a twist. Everyone knows that the best pizza is the one that has exactly the toppings you want. So here’s your chance to build your own. Things to bring: Snack food to go with the pizza (veggie tray or chips or brownies/cookies)

The girls are meeting at the church and then going to Jane Shirley’s house for a sleep over. It’s gonna be packed with all the funnest sleep over stuff to do.

The guys are heading for a night out “with the boyz.” Gym games, video games, All kinds of guy stuff we can never do when the girls are hanging around.

The cost is $30. Bring your own lunch or bring money for lunch and dinner.
